With the help of our partner organisation "Johanniterhjälpen", another fire engine has been handed over to the mayor of a town in Ukraine. The vehicle from Germany was financed through donations from Sweden and driven to its destination by Swedish volunteers.
The partnership with "Johanniterhjälpen" began in spring 2024, when volunteers from the five Orders of St John in Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany, as well as the Order of Malta, took part in a joint rotation in Siret. While there, the volunteers saw for themselves how reliably Mission Siret supports people in need in Ukraine and ensures that relief supplies reach those who need them most.
Soon afterwards, board members of "Johanniterhjälpen" travelled from Sweden to volunteer themselves and donated their first ambulance to a Ukrainian hospital through Mission Siret. They returned home full of ideas, and further truckloads of relief supplies soon followed. Contacts in the regions of Stockholm, Skåne and Värmland provided access to medical diagnostic equipment, surgical supplies, syringes and hospital beds – no longer needed in Sweden, but urgently required in Ukraine.
Since then, 26 truckloads of relief supplies, more than 20 vehicles, as well as stoves and generators have been delivered to Mission Siret and other partners.
