Marcus' eyes light up, he looks around in amazement, admires the colorful Christmas decorations in the central hall of Kamjanez-Podiskyi and waits excitedly for the Santa Claus party to begin.

Marcus is six years old - he can't remember Christmas in peace. His mother and her four children fled from Kharkiv to western Ukraine right at the beginning of the war, and she and her family have lived in a village there ever since. In her modest everyday life, the young woman is dependent on humanitarian aid, which she regularly receives from “Mission Siret”. It is a great gift for her to be able to travel to the celebration in Kamjanez-Podiskyi with her youngest son. Here, the boy enjoys a few happy hours; it has been a long time since she has seen him laugh as much as he does with the other 80 children, who are now all looking forward to the parcels from “Mission Siret”.

Christmas music plays in the background, there is tea and colorfully decorated plates of cookies and then our volunteers hand out the parcels, Marcus also receives one from our volunteer Léocadie.

The little boy can't believe that this colorful package is just for him, he proudly carries it to his place. He will only open it together with his siblings, but the excitement is clear to see.
