Dear supporters of "Mission Siret",

There are situations where we have to pause for a moment. Suddenly, our rotations' deployment plans no longer play a role, delivery lists are no longer written and donors are not contacted. We are stunned to read the messages from our partners and friends in Ukraine. We are touched by their reports and horrified by what they have experienced. And then we go back to our work with renewed energy because we realise once again how important what we do is. Because we experience first-hand how brutally people are suffering as a result of the war in Ukraine and because we can humbly support those who are working for charity on the ground. We would like to pass on this experience and share here the message from Ihor Logvinov of our partner organisation ‘Charity Fund Freedom Trust’, who helped to evacuate civilians from a military hospital 15 km from the front line:

Hello my friends!
I would like to tell you about one of the most important and difficult missions I had to take part in. Recently, I evacuated about 250 wounded people towards Pokrovsk, including boys and girls with amputations of various limbs and burns of varying degrees. This operation was very complex, required a lot of resources and the co-operation of many people.
During the evacuation, I saw people with minor and serious injuries who needed immediate medical care. It was obvious how difficult it was for them - only an hour after the attacks - but their mental strength and gratitude for the help was a real source of strength for all of us.
There were many emotional moments during the evacuation, but also extremely difficult moral situations. For example, I evacuated a man who had been given a tourniquet on his left leg during the attack, even though his right leg was wounded - everything was covered in blood and the comrades didn't have time to check it. The result was that both lower limbs had to be amputated. These things happen.
This operation has shown me how important solidarity and support are in such difficult situations. Without the help of our doctors, the entire medical staff, the volunteers and the other key participants in this operation, we would not have been able to do so much. Every one of them has contributed to saving these people. This is a true example of humanity and compassion.
Thank you for your attention and support!

Less than two months ago, our partner Ihor witnessed the heavy missile attack in Krywyi Rih. In an impressive video in March, he described the attack on his hotel and sent us photos of the destroyed vans that he regularly used to transport aid supplies from ‘Mission Siret’ to the eastern Ukrainian region.

A few weeks later, Ihor has now resumed his humanitarian work, as he describes above - thanks to new vehicles provided by "Mission Siret". With the support of the JUH regional organisation in Lower Saxony and donations from the Cronstetten Foundation, Mission Siret was able to deliver an ambulance and a Sprinter van to Chernivtsi.
From there, food and other relief supplies are now regularly transported to eastern Ukraine. On the return journey, the aid workers evacuate sick and injured civilians to the west of the country for treatment.
