In freezing temperatures, people in Ukraine try to beat the cold in a variety of ways. They also develop - at first glance - unconventional ideas. For example, they use donated leftover wax and cardboard to make fire tins in empty cans. These can provide some warmth, at least for a while, in places where the heat supply has broken down.

Our volunteers keep coming across people on their delivery trips to social welfare centers and associations in western Ukraine who are producing small items for everyday life and then bringing them to their compatriots in the eastern Ukrainian regions via their own networks - just like these wax tins. “Mission Siret” supports this work and also collects leftover candles, among other things, which then find a new use.
